Oh No, It's El Nino Again, Sigh! (Please Pray For The Philippines)
It was just over four months ago when the Philippines was devastated by major typhoons (specifically Ondoy and Pepeng) that caused so many loss of lives to thousands of people and billions of pesos in terms of loss and destruction to agricultural crops and infrastructures. The Philippines has not yet fully recovered from these nightmares of disasters when here it comes again, the fear of the dreaded El Nino rearing its fearsome head all over the Philippines. As it is, February should have been the transition month in the Philippines where the last cold winds of the thawing ices in Siberia are blown all over the country. It should not have been summer yet but we are already experiencing the start of a severe dry spell that could cause widespread drought all the way to June and July. Water levels in all dams, canals and rivers all over the Philippines are drying out. Hundreds of thousands of hectares of what should have been lush agricultural lands are cracking up and drying out as a result of the severe dry spell. Fish kills due to excessive heat are already being felt in some areas in the Philippines. Power supplies are dwindling and the authorities are now talking of two hour twice a day rotating brownouts reminiscent of the days of President Cory Aquino. Yesterday, our area had a glimpse of these brownouts when we suffered an unscheduled 6 and 1/2 hours of power interruption. To all those suffering from extreme cold weather in the US, Canada and Europe, send your snows here in the Philippines, lol. We are now sweltering in the extreme heat and scarcity of water. Better still, please pray for the Philippines and the Filipinos (again).

Moods
Are we victims of our own fluctuating moods? Are there days when we feel so light and bubbly and we feel like we are soaring through the air? And are there days when we are so irritable and grumpy like a hibernating bear suddenly awakened from its deep sleep? Are we victims of sudden and violent mood swings? In order to counteract this, we must understand our constitution as a homo sapience. We are at least 70% water and as such, we are subject to various influences that dictates our bodily functions especially our moods. The position of the moon that affects earth's tides, the activities of the sun including solar flares, the alignment of major heavenly bodies and other major celestial movements affect our moods. We are also affected by the thoughts, feelings and sentiments of those surrounding us for we are all senders and receivers of different subliminal messages and influences. That is the reason why some people are either in a good mood or a bad mood without any outside experience affecting them. And this affects our relationship with others and with ourselves as well. There are days when we just hate ourselves for no other reason. And without knowing it, we begin to hate others as well. The Bible gives the remedy for this malady. Hebrews 12:2a says, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith." When we fix our eyes on Him, then we suddenly realize that our lives, our emotions, our thoughts and feelings are no longer our own and are already surrendered to Him. And then we will be more careful of what we think, feel, say or do so as not to dishonor His name. It is wise to start our day by giving Him praise and worship and thanking Him for all the blessings we received in our lives. Then we can offer our day to Him as a burnt offering. We can then proceed to read and meditate on the word of God. If we do this everyday, we will be assured of a constant joyful and good mood attuned to the will of God in our lives.
