Humility - A Trait Of A True Child Of God

HUMILITY- A TRAIT OF A TRUE CHILD OF GOD
Of all the traits that God so admires in man, humility tops them all. This is in accordance to what God said in Isaiah 66:2b, "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word." In fact, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6b)

Why? Because God is Himself meek and humble in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus loved children and He admonished men to be like little children if they desire to enter the kingdom of God.

The almost super human strength, the tall stature and the muscular physique of the proud and arrogant Goliath, who taunted God and the whole army of Israel in the Book of 1st Samuel, were no match for the humble and Spirit indwelt David. He defeated and killed Goliath by a single stone fired in his puny slingshot.

David's reign in Israel was characterized by his humility, honesty and faithfulness in the face of God. When confronted by the prophet Nathan about his sin of adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband Uriah, he readily admitted his grievous sin and immediately sought forgiveness from the Lord.

Another example of forgiveness and restitution of rights given back to a returning and humble sinner is the case of the Prodigal Son in the Book of Luke. After getting his entire inheritance from his father, and after squandering it all in profligate and wanton living, he became so destitute and hungry as he sought a job feeding pigs.

Realizing his grievous sin and humbling himself, he decided to return to the house of his father to seek employment as a mere hired man. He was yet a long way off from their house when his father saw him and ran after him and embraced him. Seeing that the prodigal son was repentant and humble, he fully restored to him all his lost privileges as a son.

So it is with us. No matter how sinful we may have become, no matter how wretched our conditions maybe, if we humble ourselves before God, and seek His divine forgiveness by believing in Jesus Christ, divine forgiveness and complete spiritual restitution will immediately be given to us.

This is the grace of God and it is not contingent on our own worthiness before Him or what accomplishments we may have achieved. It is solely contingent upon the amazing grace of God as we humble ourselves before Him and ask forgiveness by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Those who were proud, stood on their own two feet in complete defiance of God and who rebelled against His authority, were severely punished and brought down humiliatingly on their knees.

But those who were humble of heart, and sought the Lord's guidance and protection after forgiveness were granted to them, were assured by God to enjoy a blissful life with Him in Paradise.

Humility or humbleness is a quality of being courteously respectful of others. It is the opposite of aggressiveness, arrogance, boastfulness, and vanity. Rather than, "Me first," humility allows us to say, "No, you first, my friend." Humility is the quality that lets us go more than halfway to meet the needs and demands of others.

Humility dissipates anger and heals old wounds. Humility allows us to see the dignity and worth of all God's people. Humility distinguishes the wise leader from the arrogant power-seeker.

Acting with humility does not in any way deny our own self worth. Rather, it affirms the inherent worth of all persons. Some would consider humility to be a psychological malady that interferes with "success." However, wealth, power or status gained at the expense of others brings only anxiety -- never peace and love.

I love your topic today!

Hi MEl,
Good manners and conducts are gr8 behaviour loved by The prophet and said those who have the best manners and conduct amongst you, who are intimate, are on good terms with others and are humble will seat near him and the most hated will be on the furthest seats are those who are talkative and arrogant on the day of resurrection.

Think about it, after all we all human being, what will we gain from being nasty and arrogant? The major problem is when some think they are better than the others in terms of power, status and race..

Have a pleasant day and may God bless you always.

Take care,God Bless.Have a wonderful week ahead.

It is true all we need to do is be humble infront of our God and seek forgiveness for our committed sins,But I do experience that because of the sinned it is very difficult for me to come on God's knee and ask for forgiveness, i think it is because of too much embarrassment, rather than admitted it, I tend to go away,we might see the word humble its not too difficult to pronounce but living with is very difficult bec human nature we are very proud.

Hi Elween,
Actually, I don't do tags, memes, awards and the likes. But I will go to your blog to find out about it. When giving out tags and awards to others, I don't want to miss out on anybody. Every visitor to my blog is very special to me and I treat each and everyone equally. That's the reason I don't do tags and awards. Another thing, I don't claim credit for anything. I just give all the honor and glory to my God. I hope you will understand and we still remain as good friends. Thanks for your visit my young friend. God bless you and your family. Have a great and wonderful day always.

Hi Miss Kurdapya,
Thank you so much for your deep comments. But, TO GOD BE THE GLORY. Yes, I agree with you that true humility reveals the great worth of a person. The higher he goes up the ladder of success, the more humble he becomes because he realizes that all his accomplishments were done through the help of God. The arrogant and proud person will soon find out that what he has stored for himself are the chaffs of life without any value whatsoever. Thanks for your wonderful comments and for your visit. God bless you and your family. Have a wonderful and pleasant day always.

Hi Noushy,
Yes, I agree with you my friend. Proud and arrogant people will be humbled on the day of judgment. We must always cultivate the virtue of true humility and submissiveness to the will of God. That way, He will raise us up on judgment day. Thanks for your encouraging comments. God bless you and your family. Have a great and peaceful day always in London.

Hi Sameera,
Yes humility is indeed a trait that characterizes a sublime soul. Proud and haughty people are abhorrent to other people. People of great achievements and accomplishment are so humble and compassionate towards other people. Thanks for your generous comments and for your visit. God bless you and your family. Have a wonderful and pleasant day in Dubai my friend.

Hi Moccalyn,
No, pride prevents us from approaching God and say we're sorry for our sins. But God is not a revengeful one. He loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son to afford us the way to true salvation. God loves those who humble themselves before Him and He gives special grace for them to do so. Pride is from the evil one and we must not have any part in it. Thanks for your wonderful comments and for your visit. God bless you and your family. Have a great and wonderful day always.

Humility is quality by which a person considering his own defects has a lowly opinion of himself and willingly submits himself to God and to others for God's sake. Having this virtue is not easy. It needs a lot of practice. And we need to pray to be humble.

By the way, thanks for always visiting my page Mel. God bless you and your family...

so true. Very often we fall for pride and we take pride in whatever we do and we think that it is all us who has done it and we are too quick to forget that we are nothing without God's grace.
Thank you for a lovely post. Have a great day.
Cheers!

Hi Mel, you know, that's another of my sins, the pride (besides the anger, the laziness and the avarice).

But I really promise it's a little, and since I'm managing to chage that, I'm praying to be proudless.

Thanks a lot fro the comments you leave in my Dream world.

Big greetings and big hugs

Sweet Dreams, from the bottom of my Heart:
Arthur

You know Mel, since I'm as good-looking as Arthur, I have more humility, I think.

But even so, I think no one escapes from even little moments of feeling proud.

I think I'm Arthur's brake in order not to let him sin anymore, or at least, sin less than before in order to get him out of the sin world.

Thanks a lot for leaving comments in my corner and in my poll.

Greetings and hugs

Nice Day, with my whole soul:
Gusthav

So true. People sometimes look at themselves with so much pride and think that their accomplishments were done by themselves alone. They forgot that everything that happened to them was by the will of God. Thanks for your visit and your wonderful comments. God bless you and your family.
