Revenge - The Way Of The Unspiritual

REVENGE- THE WAY OF THE UNSPIRITUAL
"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." This has been the maxim of old and is still being used today to justify one's cravings for revenge. But where did it lead the world? It led the world to a brutal state of existence.

We are witnesses to the never ending saga of brutal killings that go back and forth like the proverbial swing of the pendulum. One group of people, whose member was killed by another group, would exact vengeance and kill more than one member of the other group. Group two would retaliate against group one and would kill more of its kind until the conflict becomes an ethnic one.

Before we know it, it's one country against another country. And then it becomes religious in nature. Followers of one religion declare a holy war against the followers of another religion.

Do we please God by this? No, we only please our brutish nature and the master of this world- Satan. As innocent children and the elderlies die by the wayside, the laughter of Satan reverberates around the world as he feeds from the passion of people crazed for more revenge, violence and killings.

Such is the sad affairs of the world today. But this is not the will of God. God said, "vengeance is mine." He who persists in treading the road of revenge is putting himself under the law of the sword. God said, "he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword."

And what is the admonition of God? God said, "love your enemy, do good to those who oppress you." Why would God admonish man to do this? Because by doing so, we put ourselves under the mantle of God's protection and love, and He will surely annihilate our oppressors before our very eyes.

Do you want to see genuine peace in this world? If we do, let us immediately stop the cycle of revenge, killings, oppressions and hatred in our world. Let us learn to love our enemies and pray for them. If they still persist in continuing their insatiable quest for more violence, hatred and killings, let us then witness the unfolding of God's wonderful and amazing ways as He destroy and annihilate our enemies before our very eyes. THINK ABOUT THAT.

HI MEL
This posting is teaching us to be more patience and not taking vengeance to the enemy,as it is toxic emotions tied up with the works of the flesh and with evil deeds, but perhaps we should stand for our right!

The brutal killing and war in this era is merely for political reasons and benefits to the other...

BTW,pious people do not easily fly into rages or engage in back-biting and quarrelling rather they are centred people full of love, joy and peace!!

p/s Thanks for letting me know that you don't do meme/tag/award and so on and I respect that. Not to worry yea.

Hi Maddy,
Thanks for your visit and your intelligent comment. The world is full of hatred and revenge. We should focus more on love, peace, harmony and mutual respect for one another. Thanks again for your visit. God bless you and your family always.

Hi Noushy,
The war, the killings and violence in this world are reflections of man's inability to be a wise steward of God's patrimony. Man must learn to think in terms of holistic good or what's good for everybody and not only in terms of his own selfish interest. Most conflicts in this world are offshoots of man's insatiable greed for personal power and wealth. Thanks for your wonderful comments. God bless you and your loved ones always.

hi Mel, it sure would be nice if people learned this lesson of not recompensing evil for evil; it would definitely be a better world to live in. even though sin won't be wiped out until we have the new world, it certainly helps to get the word out, like you're doing here. God says, "vengeance is His, and He will repay." we're to "love our enemies, do good to those who use us and say all manner of evil against us." we're to even "give our enemies food to eat if they hunger, and something to drink if they thirst. now it really takes God to do that.

as always, good food for thought. have a great day!

Hi Mel!
It will be good to practice blessing, the good and the bad things too. Each time we bless another person (enemy too), place, thing or situation we recognize the God's spirit within and we reconnect to who and what we really are. It truly is impossible to bless without being blessed in return.
God said, "vengeance is mine."

Thank you Mel for your blessing words.
God bless you and your family!

Hi Heiresschild,
Thanks for your visit and for your very generous comments but as always, TO GOD BE THE GLORY. If we could only take revenge out from the vocabulary of this world, then probably there will be lasting peace and harmony. I really do not see the reason why some people would willingly kill themselves in order to kill as many people as they could in the pursuit of their revenge for some grievances. Terrorism has no place in a progressive world where people live in peace and harmony. Thanks again for your visit. God bless you and your family always.

Hi Keshi,
Thanks for you generous comments but TO GOD BE THE GLORY. The Lord has blessed me so much and I am just reciprocating the wonderful things He has done to my life. I have now surrendered my life to Him and all these things are in pursuit of His kingdom here on earth. Thanks again. God bless you and your loved ones always.

thank you once again mel....yes it reminds me of one quote from M. Gandhi - An eye for and eye will make the world go blind

Truly one needs to be patient in todays times....the technological advances have made us impatient and people seek quick fixes and solutions....and that is reflected on how one deals with others....sorry state of affairs....

have a wonderful day....

Hi Ceedy,
Thanks for your visit and for your intelligent comments. I agree with you 100%. People cannot wait patiently but always want to solve things their own way and in the process, they make things worse than it was before. There is always an uncontrollable urge to get even when we are stepped upon. Thanks again. God bless you and your family always.

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your encouraging words. That's a whiff of fresh air to a gloomy atmosphere prevailing in me now. This last post is probably very controversial that some people shun them. Well, I just write what's in my heart and what the Holy Spirit inspire me to write. Thank you kid sister, I take your encouragement to my heart. God bless you and your family always. Have nice and pleasant day always.

Sorry foe the late comment Mel.

True that trying to get back an eye for an eye is not the solution and we only end up tainting our soul and making God unhappy. But if at least when necessary,if we do not stand up for our right,we will only be suppressed forever and never be heard.

However, violence is not the solution.Strong words can be cut by gentle admonitions and most of the time talking out things does help.Sad people just rush to seek revenge without seeing sense most of the time.

Thanks for the nice post my friend.Take care,God Bless.

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi Sameera,
I agree with you that we can talk things out instead of rushing headlong to take revenge. Revenge can never be the solution to our problem, it can only exacerbate it. In the context of God's prescription to man,
it is always better to be wronged than to take revenge. We can forgive the person concerned and cast the problem to the Lord and let Him remove the pain in our heart. Then we can bless the person that he will have a change of heart. That way, we can always have a clear conscience and a happy heart. The power to equalize is in the Lord and never in our hands. Thanks for your visit. I miss you so much my friend. God bless you and your family always.

We blame Bush and whoever else for these wars. But we never stop to think that we grew up with this revengeful attitude. As a child, if someone took away our eraser, we planned vengeance. As a teenager, if someone took away our crush, we planned vengeance. As an adult, a co-worker who makes more money is always a victim of our vengeance.

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi Solitaire,
I agree with you 100%. We always want to get even with those who hurt us, but in the process we hurt our own soul. Vengeance is empty for it corrupts one's soul. Better to let go and let God. God will equalize for us. Thanks for your visit and for your inspired comments. God bless you and your family always.
