Fasting And Prayer- Automatic Line To God

There is still no shortest and surest way to God than fasting and prayer. Fasting has become a lost art, what with all the sumptuous fares all around. To be able to fast takes a lot of inspiration, determination and guts. But fasting, together with prayer and meditation on the word of God, is the fastest, shortest and surest way of reaching God. It reestablishes our connection with God. It accentuates our relationship with Him and reminds us who we really are in the presence of an Almighty God. It humbles us as we are reminded that we are just dusts of the earth, a mere discarded rag in the dazzling presence of the Creator of the entire universe. Aside from meeting God in His lofty dwelling, fasting, prayer and meditation on the word of God bring so many fringe benefits and bonanzas for us.

1. It cleanses our minds, hearts and soul and firmly reestablishes our connection with God.
2. It cleanses the mist and imperfections in our conscience, making it a crystal mirror of our relationship with God.
3. It strengthens the voice and leadings of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We are immediately convicted of anything that disturbs our realtionship with God and displeases Him.
4. It heals all our diseases. Modern medicine, saints, gurus, and ascetics testify about the wonderful effects of prolonged fasting to the body. A fasting of 3 to 7 days with only liquid for intake heals all sicknesses in our body, including incurable ones like cancer, lupus, bipolar disorders, aids, etc. When the body is starved of food, it eats first the diseased cells and accumulated fats in the body and expels all unwanted toxins out of the body. All clogged systems- circulatory, respiratory, digestive, muscular and even malfunctioning of vital organs of the body are cleansed of all undesired and toxic elements rendering them to operate smoothly like an overhauled machine.

The wounds suffered by Jeus Christ as He was mercilessly scourged by the Roman centurions represent healings for all kinds of diseases in mankind. We only have to claim it (the healing) through a living faith and healing of both body and soul is ours for the taking. Pardon me as I complete the seven day fast ordained by our church for all our members nationwide and worldwide. HAPPY FASTING!

Hi Tey,
You don't commit any sin if you don't fast. You don't have to ask forgiveness from God. There will come a time that God will give you the grace to fast and you can do that easily. You're not doing badly friend. Don't be too harsh on yourself. Thanks for your visit and honest comments. God bless you always.

Hi Hobo,

Hi Chubskulit,
You don't have to feel sorry for yourself just because somebody criticized you. As they say, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never break me." That's the hazards of public writing. We can never please all our readers. Just take it in stride and move on. Fasting can be done by the grace of God on occasions when they are needed. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Interesting post Mel.

Does fasting really heal the body. What about diabetics... can they fast? Actually I went without food for medical reasons for almost 90 hrs..more or less don't remember..summer 07. I am a non insulin diabetic and my doctor restricted food because of possibility if needing surgery.

That first bite of tuna fish was the BEST food I ever tasted. :)

Hi Seaspray,
I am experimenting now with my own body to prove the validity of my
post. I am a type 2 diabetic (non insulin dependent) and also has
hypertension. I fasted for 7 straight days with alternate days on full
fast and non solid food fast. I also stopped taking my maintenance
medicines for type 2 diabetes and hypertension for 10 days as of today
and I feel fine and lighter. Of course, I do it by faith and I claim
God's promises to enable my body to cope up with negative thoughts and
fears. I can't also recommend what I am doing (not taking on one's
maintenance medicines) because each person has different levels of
faith. I have known all along from all sources that prolonged fasting
can really heal all kinds of diseases since the body, when starved,
will eat first all diseased cells and accumulated fats in the body. I
am determined to be cured at all cost so I am holding out on my
medicines and have entrusted my life and health to God. I am also
immersing myself on the words of God about healing and the Christian
body being the temple of the Holy Spirit. I made up my own
affirmations on this: "I am the temple of the Holy Spirit; the temple
of the Holy Spirit is perfect; the Holy Spirit will correct all
imperfect conditions in my body mind and soul." I also meditate on the
healing verses in the Bible such as: "By the stripes of Jesus I am
healed." "And by His wounds we are healed." "I am the God that heals
you." "Your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free from your
suffering." (Mark 5:34); "But I will restore you to health and heal
your wounds, declares the Lord." (Jeremiah 30:17). I prayed to the
Lord to heal me and in healing me give me also the gift of healing so
I can help those who are suffering from various diseases. Thank you so
much my friend. I know for a fact that if I have not trusted God with
my health, I should have been dead a long time ago. But here I am
still testifying about the goodness and faithfulness of God. I am
still praying for your healing of your urinary system. God is good. He
will grant you healing if you really believe in HIm. Thanks for your
inquiry. God bless you always my friend.

i haven't tried liquid fast yet. but i would try that. during our 7 day prayer and fasting, i was on a one-meal-a-day fast. thank you for sharing this. God bless you, bro.

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi sis Pia,
One meal a day is good enough. Not everybody can do liquid only fast or a whole day fast. I was inspired by our pastor who said he was able to make a whole day fast with only liquid for intake. On my first day of fasting I made a complete whole day fast with no solid or liquid intake. I alternated it with liquid or soft diet fast. During the whole week I did not take any maintenance medicine and I survived even that. I did that to claim complete healing for myself. I'm still waiting for the realization of that wish. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

You did a very good job RETEACHING people what fasting is all about and why the scriptures tell us to fast! I agree with all the comments except #4, or else I would be cured by now, because I have been in the hospital for 3 months at a time with not a mouthful of food, but only fluids through the vein. If it was true, then we would only have to tell cancer victims to fast, and they would be healed. I don't believe the cure is that easy, but the rest of your article is engightening and needed so badly. We have forgotten about fasting, like you said.
Bless you my brother! I am praying for your healing as well, and for other miracles in your life.

Ok, another comment. You might decide to delete it. There are a few things you said in your comment above that could hurt people deeply in their spirit, and affect their faith. I know you don't mean to do that, so please let me beg you to try to understand some things. You said
1)"God is good. He
will grant you healing if you really believe in HIm."
2)"I also can't recommend not taking my medicines (and they are life maintaining medicines, Mel)because each person has different level of faith.
3) "I am determined to be cured at all cost!"
So you pretty much have accused everyone who is still sick of being sick because they don't have enough faith. You also are telling people that they only need medicine because of their lack of faith. OH dear Mel, I hope this is not the way you feel about yourself, that you are sick because of lack of faith. Its not true and not Biblical! There are so many people in the bible who did not get healed and whose stories of not getting healed were for a purpose. The Lord came to comfort the poor, the sick, the broken hearted. Therefore, He is claiming there will be these things, and since He said He would comfort and strengthen those who leaned on Him, then doesn't that mean that those people who are leaning on Him DO believe in Him, but they may still have illnesses? I have seen people who were SURE they were completely healed by faith, and they went off their medicines, and died. Even you told me you had one relative die and one have a stroke from going off their medicines. Do you think that happened because they didn't have enough faith? The Lord's main message was to SERVE ONE ANOTHER. How are we to serve others if there is no one who needs service? There are MANY VIRTUES and VALUES that are learned by knowing people and family who are ill. There are many lessons that are learned by being ill. Perhaps when we learn those lessons, some will be healed, but not all will be healed, even if they have as much faith as is possible. I think this is actually dangerous to teach this to people. We are on this earth to have trials so that we can grow closer to God, and illness DOES make us do that. We are in a school on this earth and each trial is a teaching method. It is often too hard for us, so the Lord promises us HIS strength.
Did Jesus ever blame a person for being sick? Did he tell them it was because of lack of faith? I don't think so.
So DEAR DEAR brother Mel...when you eventually come to the conclusion that this illness is not going away for a while, what will you do? Will you blame yourself, saying you just didn't have enough faith? Will you blame the Lord, saying He didn't love you enough? You are now a very influential man, and even a disciple, like Paul. People learned lessons from Paul's illness and suffering, and people might learn things from yours too. Not ALL people will who love the Lord will be healed. Now I even wonder what you must think of me. You wrote such a nice post about me, and a few months ago you wrote another, reviewing my blog, but how can your words say one thing, if you are really thinking that I am only sick and taking medicine because I don't have enough faith? I don't want to believe that you think those things about me, so I will wait for you to reply to me privately, and to perhaps leave a comment here or write a blog to all those who read your blog, and trust your advice, and now they may believe that they are sick only because of their own faith lacking. I guess we just have VERY different ideas religiously, but I wanted to stop you from hurting others.
Love you, my brother in Christ, and I mean it, Sheila
