Clear Conscience

Conscience is the still small voice calling our attention whenever we are doing what is contrary to the will of God. But conscience can be seared and desensitized. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us the warning to avoid displeasing God . But continuous disregard of that still small voice can result in the hardening of the heart and the deadening of our conscience. Hence we developed a so called warped conscience. What is a warped conscience? A warped conscience is a conscience that has actually no relation to the will of God because it has already been compromised. It is a pseudo conscience that has replaced the will of God in our lives to that of our own biased ideas of what is right or wrong. It is formed by a process similar to brain washing. Whenever a person sins or does something contrary to the will of God, he usually justifies his actions with all sorts of justifications just to escape the warnings of that still small voice. At first, he becomes uneasy in his sins, but as he regularly commits the same sin, he becomes enamored to it and virtually becomes a slave to it. Heartless murderers will tell you that the hardest and most difficult killing is the first one because they have to wrestle with their conscience. But after that, the killings become an orgy of sheer delight because the conscience has been thoroughly checked. This is also the case of philandering husbands. It is usually the first tryst that is so hard to enjoy because the person has to wrestle with his conscience. But after he has excused himself with all sorts of justifications, the succeeding tryst are all pure delight because they are stolen pleasures that overshadowed whatever is left of the faint voice of his conscience. That is why people invent all sorts of philosophies and spiritual dogmas in life to justify their warped conscience.

But a clear conscience is one who follows the dictates of that still small voice that convicts us whenever we go astray or commit a sin. It is a conscience that is ever aware of the presence of God in his life. It is a conscience that acknowledges God's complete dominion over his life. It is a conscience that has a reverential fear and awe of God and the person lives in order to please God and give glory to His name. What do you choose, a warped conscience or a clear conscience? "ALL WHO CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

This is very eye-opening kuya Mel kasi sometimes we make excuses for our wrong actions.. Conscience is something that I value so much and listen to alot. If I do something and I don't feel good about it, I would take a step backwards and think if what I am doing is right or wrong.

It always good to listen to the little voice within us and if we do, we sleep better at night knowing that we are following God's teachings...

Hi Kathy,
How right you are. God created everything so simple and true. Everything He created was good. It was man who compromised everything and made a mess in our world including the searing of our conscience. That's because man was created with a freewill and is free to choose the course of action he can take. But God's moral standards have not changed. What was wrong before is still wrong until now. Thanks for your visit and inspiring comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Tey,
I will join you in prayer. God never does anything without a divine purpose. I know you will get His answer if you pray hard enough. The quiet voice is heard for those who surrendered their lives under the guidance of God. They hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Thank you Mel for this important issue.

And you're right - God's moral standarts have not changed. They are the best for our best life.

God bless you and your Family!

Hi Krystyna,
Yes, today's populace have made their own versions of conscience. In fact some people treat the word of God as some kind of a myth. But God's words contained in the Bible have stood the test of time and are immutable as God Himself. Thanks for your visit and inspired comments. God bless you and your loved ones always.

This is the first time i heard about warped conscience. Siguro nga, because of the things we have nowadays, fun, material things, technology etc, we tend to compromise our morals. Kaya sometimes, kahit hindi natin intention magsinungaling, nakakapgsinungaling tayo, and there we make our own reasons to justify what we've done. I think ive been there and done that, pero later, napagsisisihan ko..

well, it's always better to choose a clear conscience..

Thanks for this another inspiring thoughts =)

Hi Bambie dear,
Sabi nga sa Proverbs 16:2, "All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes but the Lord weighs the spirit." God bless you all always.

Clear conscience- it never compromises, it never punishes. It will set you free, free to love God and your fellow, whether they are believers or not.

conscience is a result of brain washing

the conscience of a Christian is far diff from the conscience of a Muslim and that of a Hindu and that of VEST

I refuse to believe that VEST will go to hell

he is a good bloke faithful to Rose his wife for more than 50 years

He gives lott too charity
He is a better Christian than u or me

I divorced my wife
and I seen this guy in a brothel giving discounts for senior citizens

you're so right sir mel, yan din ang hate ko sa government natin, parang di nila alam ang mga ginagawa nila mali. Very good example na si GMA.. and also i read about the massacre, sobra po ang ginawa nila, walang konsensha. Bakit kaya may mga taong kayang gawin ang ganun.. dito naman po sa Japan, kapag nasira na ang reputation, they could commit suicide sa sobrang kahihiyan, nwei that's another story po. Thanks po ulit =)

Hi Bambie dear,
God bless you all always.
