Tithing

TITHING
Of all the obligations which a true Christian must do for God, the hardest thing to accomplish is to give our tithes to the Lord. Christians are bound by this precept of the Lord, that we should give ten percent of whatever we earn to the Lord as a gesture of acknowledging that everything in this world is His. It is very hard to dissociate ourselves with the things we possess and acknowledge that we are only stewards of God's blessings in our lives. Testing the Lord is normally a grievous sin against Him. But in the area of tithing, God challenges all His children to test Him on this. In Malachi 3:10, the Lord challenges all with this verse, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." I must admit that I really had a hard time complying with this admonition especially if the money on hand was not even sufficient to cover all the projected expenses. But if we faithfully comply with this precept of God, we will see God's miraculous power unfold in our lives. God will give us wisdom to spend only what is truly necessary and bounties will come from unexpected sources. And God will perform His miracle of multiplication which He did when He fed the five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fishes as narrated in the Bible. We will just be amazed that our few and insufficient money will be able to cover all our necessary expenses. Help will come from unexpected sources. I have seen this happen in my life so many times that I lost count of it. Try it and be totally amazed.

Give whatever you think people are withholding from you. And soon after you start giving, you will start receiving.

Hi Charmie,
There is a book by Catherine Ponder that explains the principles of getting rich and one of those principles is the principle of tithing. It is a blessing from the Lord that rewards acts of total trust and confidence in His divine providence. I have proven that time and again and I was utterly amazed at how God showered me with so much undeserved blessings. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

i remembered some weekends ago, someone from a distant seminary went house-to-house to ask for donation for some missionary work. the money we have on hand was not even enough to stretch for a two days' budget and we're not also sure (but we're expecting) if our salary would be credited to the bank account on time after we've forwarded it from paypal but anyway since help was needed, we gave our share of help (which wasn't much, by the way) but we trusted that God knows all our needs. So, anyway, our salary did arrive on time.. praise God! :-) thanks for the post brother mel.

I have to confess that I don't give 10%; but I do give. Yes, it was hard.

Hi Rob,
If you are a Christian you surely would have read Leviticus 27:30, Deuteronomy 12:17 and Malachi 3:10. Anyway it is not a grievous sin not to tithe if you don't feel like doing it. However, you are robbing yourself of one of God's greatest provision for immeasurable blessings that will pour down into your lap once you do this. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless.

Hi Meretrisha,
The gesture is good my friend but it is not tithing. God will bless you for every good deed you do in His name. I cannot blame you nor the other Catholics if you are not familiar with tithing since the church does not teach that. But it is a major principle in Christian practice and was meant by God to help people who are in need. You see, it takes a great amount of faith to give our tithe money to the Lord. When I was still a Catholic giving a hundred pesos to the church was already a big deal for me but when I became a born again Christian and understood the principle of tithing, I was so embarrassed to the Lord when all I can give is just 500 pesos. Now I tithe regularly from 2,000 to 3,00 pesos depending on the amount of money I received from my wife and from my paid post. I never had any problems with my finances ever since. You have to learn and appreciate the principle of tithing before you can benefit from it. The Bible says, "God loves a cheerful giver." In hindsight, what can we give to the Lord that is not His? Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Minnie Runner,
Yes, not all Christians do this since money is the last thing that they will surrender to the Lord. But in due time as their level of faith grows they will learn to part with that and God will reward them with so much blessings that they will have no room enough to contain it. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi Dhemz,
God had instituted the principle of tithing so that He can bless us to the maximum. It is not easy of course. Who would want to part ten percent of his gross pay? But as we grow in faith with the Lord, we somehow learn to appreciate the fact that everything is His including our lives, and we can confidently give Him His ten per cent share in our gross income knowing full well that it is His in the first place. Then He will richly reward our gesture of complete faith and trust in Him with blessings that will overflow in our container of blessings. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Shy,
Tithe or tithing came from the word ten which means we ought to give back to God ten percent of what He has given us. This is contained in His precept in Leviticus 27:30 and Malachi 3:10. Only Christians with mature faith and complete trust in God can comply with this because He promised a bountiful return for the ten percent we will offer to Him. If we don't believe in it, we are not obliged to do it because God loves a cheerful giver. As our faith in God grows and we appreciate the fact that everything is His, then it becomes easier for us to comply with this and reap a bountiful harvest of blessings from God.. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

This is the only part of God where He allows us to test Him---tithing.
And I believe this ever since when we were kids. We were so poor and my parents still manage to tithe and that is why we never have a day without a meal and even more.
God used people in my parents' life to bless us and provide us what we need and what we even want.
We had TV , my dad had a photography hobby and we had nice Sunday clothes...hehehehe

There was a time, when my mom gave all she got ---500 pesos and 5 days after that, she got about 500% more.
God is good all the time.

Hi Bingkee,
That is very wonderful testimony for the Lord and His faithfulness to those who trust in Him. What you said is true. I have proven that in my life so many times before. God's principles of miracles work full time in the area of tithing when His children entrusts to Him His share of their blessings. Thanks for your visit and wonderful comments. God bless you all always.

Now I know what tithing means. Ive never heard it before but Im aware that some Christian Groups require their members to offer their 10% of their annual income ---not sure kung annual ba or monthly--.. Honestly, when I heard about that practice, medyo iba ang naisip ko. Does God really requires us to share our 10% literally? Akala ko kasi, hindi naman sinusukat kung magkano or kung gaano kalaki. God knows kung taus sa puso mo ang pagbibigay kahit di naman 10%, basta may good intention. That's what I thought. Kaya thanks po for this post. Medyo na-enlighten ako po ako. Now I know why.. Tithing could be our way to repay our Lord for all His blessings to us.

I heard the word tithing before but I don't really know the meaning.Salamat sa explanation Kuya...God Bless

Hi Bambie dear,
Maski naman magkanong i offer nang believer ay ina appreciate nang Diyos. But tithing is His way of releasing untold blessings sa Kanyang mag tunay na anak. It is also an act of faith in the Lord. Nobody can outgive God. Those who tithed regularly has proven to themselves the faithfulness of God in keeping His promise of pouring out blessings that they could no longer contain it. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Charmie,
Hindi kasi itinuturo nang Catholic church ang tithe. Pero ito ang ginagamit na instrumento nang Diyos upang ibuhos ang buo Niyang pagpapala sa mga tunay na sumasampalataya sa Kanya. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
