Humility- A Trait Of A True Child Of God

HUMILITY- A TRAIT OF A TRUE CHILD OF GOD
Of all the traits that God so admires in man, humility tops them all. This is in accordance with what God said in Isaiah 66:2b, "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word." In fact, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6b) Why? Because God is Himself meek and humble in the person of Jesus Christ.
An example of forgiveness and restitution of rights given back to a returning and humble sinner is the case of the Prodigal Son in the Book of Luke. After getting his entire inheritance from his father, and after squandering it all in profligate and wanton living, he became so destitute and hungry as he sought a job feeding pigs. Realizing his grievous sin and humbling himself, he decided to return to the house of his father to seek employment as a mere hired man. He was yet a long way off from their house when his father saw him and ran after him and embraced him. Seeing that the prodigal son was repentant and humble, he fully restored to him all his lost privileges as a son.
So it is with us. No matter how sinful we may have become, no matter how wretched our conditions maybe, if we humble ourselves before God and seek His divine forgiveness by believing in Jesus Christ, divine forgiveness and complete spiritual restitution will immediately be given to us. This is the grace of God and it is not contingent on our own worthiness before Him or what accomplishments we may have achieved. It is solely contingent upon the amazing grace of God as we humble ourselves before Him and ask forgiveness by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who are humble of heart and sought the Lord's guidance and protection after forgiveness were granted to them, are assured by God to enjoy a blissful life with Him in Paradise.

I love this post.. I was a sort of prodigal daughter before pero it's true na hindi matitiis ng magulang mga anak. Now that I have my own daughter, I hope and pray that she won't commit the same mistakes I made in the past.

As for the humility, i think if we are humble, ang saya siguro ng mundo. I noticed that most Japanese are humble in nature. Parang kahit di naman nila kasalanan, sila pa yung nagpapa-sorry.

Thanks for this post Sir Mel :)

indeed, to be humble is to acknowledge that we are less than perfect. that we also have our shortcomings, the same way as everybody else. i forgot the author of this quote but it's already stored in my memory - "Humility is a strange thing. The minute you think you've got it, you've lost it." :-)
thanks brother mel. your posts are truly inspirational. this is why i am always looking forward to be here. God bless you and all your readers here.

Hi Bambie dear,
It's but natural for man to commit mistakes. What is important is that we learn from those mistakes and make our lives better. Parents will always have open arms for their children no matter what happens. I know that you are a good daughter to your parents now as you are practicing being a good mother to Anzu. Yes, you are right. Japanese are very humble and very respectful of others especially to the elders. And they don't hesitate to apologize when they are wrong. That is a wonderful trait indeed. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

When I was still working in the corporate world, I felt that being humble means losing your authority as a leader because it makes you less aggressive and might look meak and less authoritative in the eyes of your subordinates.

Inspite of that, I just carried on with my own ways and realized that humility is a great way to earn respect and build ties with people that will last even after I left the office and the company.

Thanks for this post.

Hi Imriz,
How right you are with your observation. Unfortunately, the world is ruled by pride with people competing against each other for the bragging rights of so many ridiculous causes. Some even put their very lives on the line just to acquire a bragging right. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi Gee,
Yes, you just discovered the secret trait of a true leader. Humility does not take away your authority. In fact, it validates your readiness for your leadership post. Only the insecure will apply iron fist traits in his job and his follower will resent him for that. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
