Remisniscing

There's a certain point in our lives when we indulge in reminiscing. It's some sort of a nostalgia trip where we relive the good old days. Yes just about everybody thinks about the good old days, when life was more simple and less complicated; when feelings and emotions were more open and sincere; where you can walk or stroll anywhere not afraid of being mugged or molested; where the air was cleaner and trees and blossoms were everywhere; where joy was evident for everybody not just for the kids; where things were plentiful and no one was going hungry; where genuine love and care was evident for everybody.

How pleasant are childhood memories, where we chased butterflies among the meadows; where we went fishing on the river banks; where we fly our kites in the open fields impervious of what's going on around; where we strolled to the ice cream parlor to indulge in our favorite ice cream sticks; where we played games of hide and seek with our favorite playmates; and where we told and retold tales of adventures and pranks to our amused gang mates.

Who could ever forget our first love, our first date, our first kiss, when we looked at our world through a rose colored glass; when everything around us was truly magical and enchanting; where we never got tired of composing endless love letters; where we indulged in hours and hours of silly love chatters to the disgust of our fellow house mates; where we exchanged countless souvenirs and tokens of undying love to our beloved; where we first experienced a broken heart.

Who could ever forget those wonderful episodes in our lives. But we must face our present world once more fully satisfied that we lived a wonderful life as we face the future with a wide smile, knowing that the Lord will take us to a far better and wonderful world.

how right you are. reminiscing is one 'delicious' way of escaping the difficult and stressful life we now live in. life, then, was so simple that we can't somehow imagine how it ever turned out this way, and some time in my life i thought.. 'if i have known life would be this difficult when i get old, i wish i never grew up' hehe..

Hi Shy,
Yes, I learned from your previous posts how wonderful your life was when you were younger. How you delighted in your escapades when you were younger. It's nice to remember them once in a while but we must not unnecessarily linger in them for we will be off tracked with our present life which is by far more important than the past. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Kimmy,
To us all, we find the past always better when we reminisce because we looked at life then through a rose colored glass and we are still embedded with the idealism of life. But after undergoing so much pain and suffering as we go through life's perilous paths, we lose those idealism and zest for life. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Recalling memories of the past events or experiences is one way to keep our feet on the ground.

Because it helps us to keep stronger and steadfast considering the experience that may serve as a lesson that brings knowledge or wisdom.

Good or bad experience notwithstanding, they are all but something to learn.

Hi Dhemz,
We really could not help it if once in a while we reminisce about our past since it is part of our lives. What is wrong is when we linger longer in our past for that will be tantamount to escapism. Thanks for your visit and comments. Yes, I will join the link that you provided. God bless you all always.

I don't think there is nothing negative in reminiscing---in fact it's nature's way for humans to cope with disasters and troubles---in other words --for survival. Reminiscing happy memories is one way to give human beings hope that life is not all that bad and happy days are here to come back again.
It's making us to steadfastly keep our feet on the ground and not fall caused by a little problem or challenge. Reminiscing help us remember the ways we survive, how we use challenges and how we take wisdom and lessons to confront further and future challenges and troubles.
Not all people can do reminisce and take it as an inspiration to move on----others just lag behind by simply not getting up at all. These people are the ones who really look back and connect it with the future rather than the present.

Hi Imriz,
Its every person's time. We yearn for the good old days during our young carefree years but that was already lost and all we can do is to reminisce the good old days. Someday, our kids will experience the same nostalgic frame of mind. Nothing is really new under the sun. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.
