God's Perfect Time

Are we so anxious for the answer to our prayers that sometimes we feel that God is not listening to us? Do we sometimes teach God what to do to answer our petitions? Church Fathers say that God has only three answers to our prayers: yes, no and later. We may wonder, why later? Could not God give us what we ask for now, at this very moment when we feel we need it most? The Church Fathers also teach us the doctrine of God's sovereignty over all His creation. We can never question God nor His motives for everything He does, for He is God. God gives us what we need and not what we want. And God answers our prayers in His own perfect time and not when and how we want it to be. God is also dramatic. He is fond of pushing us to the very edge of the cliff where we have nowhere else to go, and at the very last moment, He delivers us with dramatic and unmistakable effect that we can never deny His divine intervention and providence.

God's intervention and providence are greatly influenced by the degree of faith by the petitioner. The Bible says, "it is impossible to please God without faith." Faith is the language of the spiritual realm. Who among us would readily sacrifice the life of his beloved son if ordered by God to do so? But Abraham did. And God rewarded his faith and credited it to him as righteousness.

When we pray, let us humble ourselves before a sovereign God who created everything visible and invisible, and let us trust in His unfailing love that in His own perfect time, He will answer our petitions. Prayer with unshakable faith can move mountains.

Well said. :)

Years ago ...I heard a Christian man say something on TV that I used back in early 90s and still do today.

he told of a dramatic personal story about God's perfect timing. actually 2 different ones. One would be the 11th hr and 59 sec rescue that is unmistakeably God and everyone knows it was a miracle. the other was ..when we think something should be done ...come thru for us a by a certain time ...we should not despair, etc. ...but know that God is still working on it ...that something isn't right in the heavenlies ..things still have to be in order and so hold on he is working on it.

My husband went through an egregiously wrong case in which someone else committed a crime and he and his coworker were blamed along with the boss. It is a very interesting story/testimony of God's deliverance and goodness because he was vindicated and restored. But there was a date for the arbitration to begin and the prosecuting ..(DISHONEST people) side called when we were prepping and case was to be in 4 days. they called and canceled it til feb. So we would have to wait from Nov to feb and he had already been out of work 15 mos. Our advocate (Jesus was the real advocate :)protested stating my husband and family had been waiting all this time. The guy snarled back if you push me I'll delay it even longer!

My husband left that meeting so dejected, depressed and giving up. I said "I know this is discouraging ...but it just means ...*something* isn't right in the heavenlies and God is still working on it." (There is so much to this story) Anyway ...the arnitration took place in Feb and in March husband got verdict and he WON!

W/all my heart ...I believe if we had the case then ...amybe a different arbitrator/judge would not have seen the truth in facts we presented or maybe he would've favored or owed one to other side. You never know how these things work. (I lost my naivete during that case, I had always assumed people enforcing law, etc were honest. It absolutely is not always true. We experienced some bad apples) I believe that delay ..caused us to have another arbitrator/judge. or maybe something else had to happen. I don't know ...But I did know throughout that God was in charge of the outcome.

NOW ..I need to be patient - not fear and get all insecure because I have not gotten a job yet and TRUST that in his perfect timing I will and in the right place to be a blessing and be blessed.

Thank you for your timely post - no pun intended. :)

I praise GOD for this post that you posted!!!

Our GOD is so magnificent, that I'm finding sometimes when I don't get what I want, that it may not be HIS will for me, and seeing this sometimes is the case, I wouldn't want, what I thought I wanted . . . in the first place!!!

God bless you Mel Avila Alarilla!!!

Hi teJan,
Yes, God has a prefect time for everything including the accomplishment of His plans. You feel that you are not ready for things to come because you have not fully surrendered yourself to the Lord. There should be no holding back. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Sea Spray,
It is when man analyze and rationalize that he feels there is much confusion in the spiritual realm. There is no such thing because God is a perfect Being knowing everything that He does, work in His own perfect time. It is when we analyze and interpret God's doing that we fail to see His sovereign hand in everything. God said, we have to be like little children with full trust to our heavenly Father that He will do what's best for all of us. In the meantime, He gives us sufficient grace to survive and overcome our trials. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths." That has been my guiding principle in my life. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Lon,
We just have to trust God as though we are little children trusting our heavenly Father. We should trust that he will give us what is best for us in His own perfect time. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Amen to this post! God has a perfect timing for all our request and petition. The secret is to keep on praying and have a constant communication with God for us to hear his answer. :)

I think that's how I developed enough patience to teach small children, by waiting. The Lord is good and I know He always wants what's best for me and for my family so I let go of my misgivings and trust Him with all my heart, and when I get impatient and want to complain, I find myself asking the Lord to calm me down and give me more patience.. It always works..

There are so many questions that the only person who can give us the answers would be us. God answers our prayer in his own way that he knows because he knew what's best for us but we human being sometimes question why God did not answer our prayer because we overlooked his answers. When we ask kasi minsan binibigay na natin ang gustong sagot na gusto natin yun na dapat ibigay ng panginoon. Like you said we can never question God's answer or motives. Thanks for the post Sir Mel.
