Eternity

We work ourselves to death trying to accumulate wealth for our children to hedge their future against all kinds of uncertainties in life.

We buy all kinds of insurances to ensure the future welfare of our loved ones.

We send our children to the best schools that our meager resources could afford just so we can ensure their future prosperity.

There are times we even sacrificed our scrupples and throw our principled integrity to the waste bin just to accumulate the much sought after wealth to ensure the future of our loved ones.

We worry ourselves to death regarding the future of our children, how they will fare in this jungle of existence where the norm is survival of the fittest and dog eats dog.

We do all these things and so much more, but there is one basic and fundamental question we refuse to even entertain in our minds. The question is:

HAVE WE PREPARED OUR CHILDREN FOR ETERNITY? Think about that.

another excellent post mel. where we'll spend our eternity is what this walk is about. salvation is for now, but the here-after with Jesus. the witnessing, soul-winning, etc. is part of how we fulfill that purpose. what does it profit a man to gain the whole world (education, good paying jobs, houses, cars, etc.) and lose his soul.

i hope you're feeling better today. i appreciate you sharing with me. one of my ministries is a prayer ministry. I thank God for healing and His faithfulness to watch over us and take care of us.

yes...another gr8 posting by you Mel.Thanks for sharing and make me think....

Understand the meaning of eternity as a life span and infinity as a living room!!

Have you ever thought about living eternally? To make sure that our remainder of eternity turns into a pleasure, Love and bliss I think we need to start & learn with continuously practice to control and direct our mind, attention and focus toward Love - once you have achieved God-Union you are free for eternity to do whatever you love to do..and this is what of our journey is all about...correct me if I'm wrong!

P/s hehhehe..And you know when talking with me it's always associated with love...anyway what's life without love? U know wat I mean!!

Have a beautiful day Mel.

Hi Heiresschild,
I feel that most people shudder at the thought of what is in store for them after death. They always push it at the farthest corners of their minds. But that is the most important part of one's existence- where we will spend our eternity. Anyway, we are just pointers of the way. People have to choose the path they want to take. Thanks for your concern and for your prayers. I really appreciate them. Thanks for your visit too and for your generous comments. God bless and have a peaceful and blessed day.

Thanks Noushy for your wonderful insight. We have different approaches but the same principles. We all avoid the pitfalls of worldly existence because this will prevent us from being with our God. I respect your religious beliefs and your principles in life. Suffice it to say that I see that you are living your life as what you believe God wants you to live it. Let's leave it at that. Thanks for your usual visit and have a wonderful and sunny day.

Oh Yes, Noushy. You always talk about love because your blog is all about love. But I find it very sensible and uplifting. Your expressions of love is the edifying type not the vulgar one. And I always enjoy reading your romantic love posts. They are a joy to absorb and think about. Thanks again.

Hi Seaspray,
Thanks again for your visit and for your nice comments. I pray to God that He has already healed you. Both of us need His healing grace. I'm so sad to know that Jlee will be undergoing biopsy for suspected breast cancer. I hope it turns out negative. May the good Lord have mercy on us and bring healing to us all. Thanks again for your visit. God bless and have a peaceful day.

Hi Mel!
You provoked me to think deeper about life,
and you reminded me the time when my son played this piece of Chopin.(he is a piano teacher).

Many blessings to you, your family and your great work!

Yet another powerful thought-provoking post.A pity people do so much for their children thinking they are "building" their future when actually they are making them weaker by taking them away more and more from the pillar of independence.Just spending on a child's education and materialistic needs is not enough.A parent has to think much beyond that and work on the child's morale first and foremost so that tomorrow if they have to trudge alone on the path of life, they can stand any winds that threaten to blow them off track.I am already wondering how to do so for my child/children when I have them in the future, and hope that I never ever fail my duty as a parent.

Take care.God Bless...

really thought provoking.... a lot of us just do not think about this aspect of life. I am glad you brought it up :)

Hi Krystyna,
Thanks for your visit. We all have to face the reality that someday all of us will pass the threshold to eternity. If we have done everything we could to soften life's hard knocks on our loved ones, should we not be more concerned on what will happen to them for all eternity? The Good Book says, "my people perish for lack of knowledge." We cannot follow the example of the ostrich who buries his head in the sand every time he senses danger, thinking that the danger will go away if he no longer sees it. Thanks again for your visit. I wonder when you will resume your postings. I miss them already. God bless and have a pleasant day.

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi Sameera,
I know you will be raising fine, well trained and well educated children. And I know God will give you the most wonderful man for your husband. I agree with you that the parent's responsibility for their children does not revolve only in meeting their materialistic needs. Often times these make them soft to face the harsh realities of life. Thanks for your visit and for the meaningful comments you left behind. Smile always. God bless and have a wonderful and fantastic day.

I think Prince said it well:
"Electric word life, it means 4ever and that's a mighty long time"
Enternity is a hard idea to really understand. Maybe too hard.
But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try, eh?
Rock on!

Hi Rex Venom,
Thanks for your visit and for the meaningful comments. I think we look at things from a different perspective. Let's just leave it at that. I really like your post on memorial day posted by Jim on WUB. You have a very distinct and impressive style of poetry and I really appreciate that. I will be linking you with my blog and I hope you do the same with mine. Thanks again for your visit. Have a nice and pleasant day.

Hi Mel..

Hope you're fine and keep smiling. It's chilly here in London, last nite it was minus 2degree celcius..hehhehe..

Well, a lil bit info for you,on your comment in my another blog(strange but true) pertaining to the report from Herald Tribune re clean protestors...

Mel, I'm not a Msian and never been living there, so me, as much as you, do not know much too about their government...but the feelings I have for Msia is by connection from my ancestors...and bcoz my fiancee is a Malaysian too, so I guess it just natural for me to take seriously abt wat's happening there...just to let you know coz maybe next time you might ask something pertaining to Msia then I wouldn't know to answer, thus it will be such an embarrassing, so I tot I better let you know now..hehehhe.....*defensive mode*ngehhh:p

That's okay Noushy. I was just making a comment on your article since I felt I should reciprocate your constant visit to my blog. It was my way of showing you that I regularly scan your blogs and what's the evidence of our visit in another blog than to leave a comment behind. That's why I have to make a nonsensical comment on your Malay poem (even though I couldn't understand it) since I can't think of any other way to show you I visited your blog. Anyway, thanks for your explanation and your visit too. Have a wonderful weekend and a warmer weather. Brrrrrrrrrr. Get your electric blanket. The weather's too cold. Ciao.

Hi Heiresschild,
You're always welcome here. Thanks too for your words of encouragement and inspiration. The climate here is a little colder too but probably not as cold as the weather there. By the grace of God, I'm feeling a little better although I still could not get out of my house since the pain returns when I walk. At least the pain now is tolerable and I can get up easily without the accompanying severe pain. By the way, thanks for referring me to Pia. She sure is a wonderful Filipina Christian, full of hope, joy and the Spirit of the Lord. I hope we could become regular correspondents. Bye now, God bless and have a blessed and wonderful day always.

Hi Byotipol (Texas Sweetie),
Thanks for your visit. I always pray for you, your hubby and your unborn child. I hope that you will have a safe and normal delivery. Give thanks to God always for the tremendous blessings that He has poured into your life. Love na love ka ni Lord.
Take care of yourself always now that you are nearing your delivery date. May God shower you with everything that you need for a trouble free and safe delivery. May you deliver a beautiful, healthy and normal child. Dalaw ka naman kay Tukmol dahil isasara na ang blog niya at papalitan nang ibang Filipino blog. Bye for now. Take care always and God bless you and your family. Smile always. Have a nice and pleasant day.
