Our Will Vs God's Will

Ever since we were born, we were taught to express our will to get anything in life. In school, we were taught to be independent, self reliant and aggressive in imposing our will to grab anything out of life. We were taught to become highly competitive and to strive to be the very best in every field of work or discipline that we enter. But in doing so, we also bloat our ego or self esteem. We sometimes see ourselves as superior to everybody else and we develop a winner's attitude that frowns upon losing. But this is in direct contradiction to the admonition of God when He said, "unless you become like little children, you will not enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 18:2). Why this special privilege to small children? Because they are not only innocent but very trusting. They don't worry about anything but trust that their own parents will provide for all their needs. A person who is self reliant, who always impose his will on others and always desire to win all his battles against all odds would rarely depend on God but on his own free will. He develops a delusion of grandeur and see himself as far above everybody else. This is the beginning of his downfall for the Lord says, "he who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted" (Matthew 23:12). There is nothing wrong if we impose our will. Just make sure that our will is subservient and aligned to the will of God and we will surely succeed in life.

That is too good post. We as a human mostly take good fruits as our achievement And call it our will, our effort And when bad we say it is bad luck or God wishes. Strange we are. Thanks for sharing wonderful post.

Tamang tama ito sa mga sobrang proud na tao na feeling nila they know everything pero pag bumagsak they blame God of their failures and misfortune. I just remember someone while reading this. thanks for the post Sir Mel.

That's why the love of young children are pure and innocent. And we as parent should lead them to the right path through God's words

Hi Shy,
Tama ka duon kaibigan. God exalts those who humble themselves and humbles those who exalt themselves. Madalas tao ang naguumpisa at kapag nagkaaberya, Diyos ang may kasalanan. Nakakatawa hindi ba? Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Dhemz,
Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

hi brother mel, great post.. it is about time we reflect on things like this. i was reading from another blog which made me feel a little disappointed because he kind of was leaning against his own theory that there is no God and I've read your comments there, too.. as for me, I did not bother to comment- I just prayed for the person that he will be touched and moved by God

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi Meretrisha,
People write for many reasons but the only reason to write about God's wonderful message of joy and salvation is in order to please Him and to glorify His name. No other reason will suffice in the eyes of God, and all other efforts other than that is simply vainglorious. God's words and messages are so simple that an earnest heart can easily discern them. In fact, even children can understand them. Did not God say that if we are not like the little children, we cannot enter the kingdom of God. Why? Because children have pure hearts and pristine motives. They respond to God's message from their heart. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Just give a hug and a kiss to Akesha for me. Ang bilis niyang lumaki. Kailan ang kasunod? God bless you all always.

Hi teJan,
Thanks for the beautiful words but as always, TO GOD BE THE GLORY. We must all be sensitive to the keading of the Holy Spirit because we are nearing the end times. We do not want to be caught flatfooted and be left out when the Lord raptures His church. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

I agree with Shydub.. mostly ganun ang nangyayari, even my husband noticed that among other Christians (or ex christians), bandang huli, kay God sinisisi.. Anyway, my motto in life is prayer and work. Kapag may magandang nangyayari ng di ko ineexpect, I think of it as God's will..

Hi Bambie dear,
God bless you all always.
