It's Our 25th (SILVER) Wedding Anniversary

On April 25, 1985, my wife and I were married. After 25 years of blissful marriage, we had four offsprings- 3 boys and 1 girl. Our eldest is already 24 years old and is working in a call center at Cubao, Metro Manila. Our second eldest is 20 years old and is also working in an insurance firm in Makati, Metro Manila. Our third and youngest son is entering 3rd year high school in June and our youngest and only girl is 8 years old and will enter grade 3 this June also. We would have wanted to hold a special renewal of vows and a grand celebration with family, relatives and friends. We would have been so overjoyed by this momentous event. But it would not be so. My wife is in the US working and my children and I are in the Philippines. Why do I feel so lonely and empty inside? Because my wife cannot come to the Philippines because her papers are not yet in order and if she does, she could no longer go back to the US to work again. But even though this has happened, I am still very happy and joyful for I know that my God has something better in store for all of us. I will be cooking spaghetti with carbonara sauce for my kids as we thank God for all the blessings we have so abundantly received from Him. It's a dual celebration because the 26th of April is the 24th birthday of my eldest son. In all these things, all I can say is "TO GOD BE THE GLORY NOW AND FOREVERMORE."

Hi Shy,
Maraming salamat. Although hindi natupad yung matagal ko nang pangarap na renewal of marriage vows namin for our Silver Wedding Anniversary, masaya na rin ako dahil we lasted that long. Pareho na kaming nagmature nang outlook sa buhay after more than 3 years na nasa States si misis. Hindi na namin iniisip ang sarili namin kundi ang kapakanan nang future nang kids namin. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Finally I am able to log in so I can leave you a comment!

CONGRATULATIONS ON 25 YEARS OF MARRIAGE! ITS AN AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR THESE DAYS, AND FOR ALL THE TRIALS YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH!!! I feel your heartache deeply for not being able to get together, because my husband and I are in the same situation. We have had daydreams of getting on a cruise ship somewhere, in between all countries, not having to deal with borders and papers, etc. but then learned that we still have to get visitors visas to any country that the ship starts at and goes to. It's still a nice thought though. A cruise is all inclusive, so all food, activities, assistance from the staff is all included in the cruise, and they treat you really well an even have doctors and nurses on board for my health problems. Many elderly choose to just cruise permanently because its cheaper than the daily cost of a nursing home and the treatment is much better. I think we are still hoping we can arrange some cruises in the future.I hope you and your wife can do that when her paperwork gets straightened out. I don't think it will be much longer. There are a lot of discussions about Obama's new immigration rules.
GOD BLESS YOUR MARRIAGE! May it last forever!

Hi Bambie dear,
Thank you so much for your greetings and wishes. I really appreciate that. Only God knows how long my wife will be able to get her papers in order in the States. She's planning to petition the two youngest first if ever because they have a better chance to be petitioned than my two elder sons who are already beyond twenty years of age. I hope and pray that both you and Shy will have a very successful marriage that will last a lifetime. Thank you so much for your visit and very kind comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Shiela,
Thank you so much for your greetings and wishes for us. Yes, by God's grace we will be finally reunited one day. But we are not disappointed for we know that God's timing is perfect. No, I don't think we can ever afford those cruises. It's beyond our budget and we have more important priorities to spend on than spending money for ourselves. Just a nice vacation in Baguio or Palawan in the Philippines will be more than enough for us. We are looking beyond ourselves already and plan everything for our kids alone. Thanks for your visit and very inspiring comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Meretrisha,
I am sorry my friend. Your comments seemed to have been lost. I was pretty sure that I clicked the publish button but I was surprised that when I went to the blog, your comment was nowhere to be found. I waited for a day for it to appear to no avail. I apologize for inadvertently losing your comment. I am very sorry about that. I value and treasure comments for I know they come from one's heart. Sorry again. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa (my fault, my fault, my most grievous fault). Thanks for your visit and lost comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Dhemz,
Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Oi! WOW! God is GREAT! I got watery eyed upon reading and knowing this brother Mel... Congratulations! I know theres this special link between couples even you are away from each other physically!

Oh! May the Lord keep an eye on your whole family! More blessings and its really a great thing to celebrate!

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi teJan,
We just leave everything to the tender mercy and grace of God. We just had a simple celebration with my kids and I cook linguini with carbonara sauce and my eldest (who celebrated his birthday the following day) brought chocolate rolls from Red Ribbon. Thanks for your visit and inspiring comments. God bless you all always.
