They say that laughter is the best medicine. And it can never be truer than that. Have we not enjoy the company of people with a good sense of humor? And haven't we felt so good after a good laugh? Laughter secretes a hormone that makes us feel good and euphoric. This hormone can also deaden the pain in our body.
But how can we evoke laughter if our situation is less than pleasant? We cannot laugh at the expense of others. Those who do that makes a good laugh at a gathering but loses the friendship of the butt of his joke. If we ever have to make fun, see to it that we make fun at our own expense rather than on others. People love to laugh at jokes cracked on others rather than on themselves. That's why a good stand up comedian always cracks joke at himself rather than on his audience.
But if we are not a professional comedian, how can we evoke laughter in ourselves? Laughter comes from a healthy spirit. We laugh because we feel good inside. We laugh because we are at peace with ourselves, with our neighbors and with the world. But most of all, we laugh because we are at peace with God and we are so in love with our present life.
To evoke laughter, one must be very observant. Look at babies and small kids. They are so laughable in their own ways because they are so satisfied with themselves. Look at a cute pup or kitten or any baby animal and you can feel the joy and laughter bursting inside them. Hear the singing of the birds, the swaying of the leaves as the wind passes by. They bring the melody of joy and laughter to the world.
If our inner being is joyful, then we can laugh to our heart's content and the whole world will laugh with us. Ha, ha, ha, ha, *lol*
This is the product of my fertile thoughts. I am recreating them here and am sharing them with you, dear bloggers, for whatever benefits, if any, you could derive from them. I wish you could be more open and share with me your comments and suggestions so that I can improve on my blog. Thank you, God bless and have a nice day. Mel Avila Alarilla

ang pagtawa ay hudyat talaga para sabihin na ang isang tao ay nasisiyahan......except na lang sa mga artista kasi may pagkakataon na pinapatawa lang sila ng direktor..
I once asked if happiness is really a choice Mel... Because I believe happiness, like laughter, should be invoked. Kung baga sa tagalog, may pinagkukunan, may pinaghuhugutan.
And I have to agree with your thoughts on stand up comedians. They should not make fun of their audience if they wanted to be that good.
God Bless!
Hi Arvin,
You are right. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
Hi MinnieRunner,
Yes, we can choose to be happy or sad. But happiness adds to the years of our lives while sadness shortens them. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
i truly believe in that!! i love laughing and I love to hang out with people who have sense of humor :)
i love being with people who are jolly. it makes you feel better too. that's probably the reasons why one of the characteristics i looked for before was a good sense of humor. i'm so lucky to found that trait in my hubby. :)
Hi Mommy Jes,
How right you are. It's healthy to hang around with people who have a healthy sense of humor. Laughter lengthens our days on earth and bitterness shortens it. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
Hi Sheryl,
How fortunate and blessed you are to have found a hubby who have a healthy sense of humor. It's always great to be around such people. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
laughter is the best medicine...yan ang sabi nila....hehhehe! Hubby sometimes complain because I don't get his joke and not laugh about it...lol! mas type ko kasi ang jokes sa pinoy...I just give him a courtesy laugh...:)
miss ko ang tawanan namin nang mga ka berks ko during college days....hehhee...have a great weekend kuyaMel!
Hi Explorerminded,
Yes, we appreciate Pinoy jokes more because they are so transparent and one can easily relate to them. Foreign jokes are more subtle and harder to understand because of the culture and language barrier. Just laugh when your hubby cracks a joke because foreigners are easily amused with jokes than us Pinoys. Yes, your days in college are probably the happiest and most colorful days of your life. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
Hahaha let me start my comments with that and end it with ha ha ha. thanks for the laughter post Sir Mel
