Focus On Jesus

FOCUS ON JESUS
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2a). Why are we admonished to fix our eyes on Jesus, and why is He the author and perfecter of our faith? Because Jesus Christ is the embodiment of all the promises of God from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Our mind is very active and we receive countless messages and influences from the outside world, most of which are on the subliminal or the subconscious level. The prevailing moods and mindsets of those around us affect us in more ways than we can ever imagine. Sometimes we feel irritable and moody where there is no logical reason for it. Sometimes lustful thoughts just flash in our minds like grease lightning and if we are not careful, seeds of sin will be implanted in our minds to germinate later on. Sometimes our minds wander off to a distant past and resurrect ghosts of old pains and hurts thus resurrecting the spirit of bitterness in our hearts and minds. To counteract all these negative tendencies, we focus our minds on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. There is always an appropriate verse or promise of God to counteract all negative thoughts. In times of scarcity, when our minds are diverted to thoughts of lack and poverty, we can always recite Philippians 4:19 to picture God's divine providence in our lives. "But my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). It is best to memorize key Biblical verses that we can use to counteract all the attacks of the enemy and any negative developments in our lives.

Natamaan ako sa sometimes irritable and moody where there is no logical reason. I just noticed lately that lumiliit pasensya ko talagaas in. I am working on going back to church, kaso lang nahihiya talaga ako pumasok sa simbahan na malapit sa bahay namin kasi sarado pag nag mimisa hehehe. Thanks for the inspiring post Sir mel.

Hi Shy,
Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

If we want to prevent it, we just have to think of our faith in our Lord. Kaso minsan di natin ma-divert ang pag-iisip natin, madalas ay na-eentertain natin mga bagay.. i guess it's because we're only humans.. BUT it's indeed true that if we have strong faith and belief in God, maiiwasan natin ang mga negative thoughts.

Thanks for this post. I hope to meet you if ever.. next time ko na lang ibroadcast paguwi namin kapag may ticket na. baka kasi ,maudlot na naman... Thanks

Hi Bambie dear,
The battle with the adversary goes on in the mind. That is the battle ground that the evil one wants to control and if we are not careful, we may be swayed to think evil thoughts which may become seeds of future sins. You don't have to apologize. I understand you full well. I just hope you can finally return to the Philippines so that your family will finally meet their beloved Anzu. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

First of all, I was surprised to see my name here Kuya Mel hahha.. shocked naman ako about your gratitude.. but thanks anyway for the special mention.

Concerning about the post here, there actually lots of factors why most humans tend to have a predominant emotion or some sort of prevailing moods.

One factor is financial, in this society were money rules, majority of us easily tumble and get carried away by our sentiments. That's why, getting irritable or grouchy becomes a normal way of life.

Considering the fact if you are flooded with long list of debts and obligations, I believe that could triggered negative tendencies.

Yet, life must go on....

Hi Dhemz,
That happens to everybody because our enemy is very adroit in manipulating the minds of people. We are the objects of his hatred and envy that is why he will do everything to bring us to ruin. The only antidote to this is to focus on Jesus so that we will not be swayed to obnoxious thoughts. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Hi Umma,
I was shocked too when you sent me payment ahead of the exposure of your banner ads in my blog. I had unsavory experiences with advertisers where I have to almost beg them to pay me the agreed amount. And some advertisers pay after 15 days to one month. And there you were paying me in advance. Seldom do I find people such as you who is ready to help others without any questions. And I truly appreciate that. People who trust in the Lord has a very peaceful mind because they surrender everything to God who never fails to supply all their needs. In the long run, they develop equanimity, patience, tolerance and great understanding of the weaknesses of others. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi Tey,
Yes, I am praying for you and your family but you have lost focus on the more important aspects of your life. Focus more on God and your family and not on your running feud with your adversary. That scare people away from your blog and your online business. Just turn over your problems and worries to God and he will take care of you. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always my friend.

2 years na yta since I lost my legality here! Pero noon may papel ako every week or other week po!Minsan nakkalimotan ko na din mag pray. With God's will I'm going home next month at di na ako takot na parang kriminal..! God Bless po Kuya:)

Mel Avila Alarilla said...

Hi Charmie,
That is the problem if we are not strong spiritually. We become helpless against the onslaught of the enemy. The enemy can use anybody including the old woman under your care to taunt you to lose control and say unsavory statements which can hurt and cut like a knife. Jesus Christ pointed to us the way to overcome these temptations of the enemy. He used the word of God to counteract them. But how can we use the word of God if we do not know them? And how can we know them if we do not read the Bible? Regular prayers and reading and meditating the word of God can help strengthen your spiritual reserve to counteract all the wiles of the enemy. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
