Fear Of The Lord
Proverbs said, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." When I was just a new Christian, I often shun away from this verse because fear has a negative connotation to me. I would reason out that I loved God more than I feared Him and that perfect love cast away all fears. But as I grew and matured as a Christian, this phrase assumed a new and different meaning to me. Why would the author of Proverbs associate the fear of the Lord as the beginning of wisdom? Seen in the light of John 3:16 ("For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.") which showed the incomparable love of God for all men, I began to understand and appreciate that verse.
Fear of the Lord means fear of offending Him who has given the most precious possession He has to save all mankind. And to do the one thing that He abhors most, and that is- sinning, is really unthinkable. When we realize all the wonderful things He has given us- from birth to eternal life, to countless blessings- there is a reverential fear and awe of Him and the desire to please Him and do His will. Fear of the Lord then simply means to live in order to please God and give glory to His name. Fear of the Lord means to avoid the one thing that will separate us from Him, and that has always been, sin.
So as we fear the Lord and avoid incurring His wrath through sinning, we reap the incalculable harvests of blessings and graces that He so abundantly bestow to those who fear Him and obey His will. Did He not promise in Matthew 6:33 that, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Truly, it is wisdom to choose the path of grace, salvation, blessings and fellowship with God and our fellow brethren and the joy and glory of eternal life with the Lord. SHALL WE START TO FEAR THE LORD?

I perpetually fear God, but I can't deny the fact that I sometimes tumble which is a nature of being a human.
Thanks for the post Kuya, indeed your posts bring some enlightening experience that prompts me somehow as we focus more on our personal life.
that was beautiful. people sometimes interchange WISDOM with KNOWLEDGE, and your post gives a clearer distinction. knowledge is the accumulation of things learned making a person knowledgeable. wisdom, however, is acknowledging that there is SOMEONE out there more knowledgeable than you are, and obeying that SOMEONE and following HIM make a person not only knowledgeable but also wise.. thank you so much for the post..
i have no fear with God.....sa mga kriminal mayroon pa ako takot..
Hi Nancy,
It is human to stumble or sin and God perfectly understand that. We can never make it on our own without the assistance of God. The only way we can make it is to surrender our will to God and trust Him wholeheartedly to bring us to his promised land. We must humble ourselves and acknowledge His divine sovereignty in our lives. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
Hi Kimmy,

Hi Arvin,
Later on in life you will understand the real meaning of fear of the Lord. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
I absolutely feared the Lord, and that was keeping me from falling to sin until such time when I became spoiled of Him. Being so blessed that i realized.. plus this message made me ponder that I already start being so loose.. hmm, thanks for this bro. Mel.
Hi teJan,
In the long run, what really matters is that we don't displease God with our ways. That is the fear of the Lord. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.
Thanks for explaining and sharing your concept about fear of God sir mel, iba iba perception ng tao kasi ano at interpretation sa mga words and phrases. minsan hindi ko ma dig o ma kuha ibig sabihin mga salita sa bible hehe. Hi Shy,
Wala nang problema sa computer namin. Ang me problema ay yung internet provider namin- Smartbro. Mula nung nag offer nang 200 pesos rebate per month for a renewal of contract ay nagkaroon na kami nang regular interruption nang internet service for more than 8 hours a day at tumama pa sa oras nang gamit ko. Ilang beses na kaming nagreklamo pero palaging sagot ay wala raw nagbago sa conditions nang contract. Haaay, buhay. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.
Hi Shy,
Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.
