Horror Of Dracula (Halloween Tale)

When I was a child, I was so terrified by the movie- Horror of Dracula starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. It was all so real to me that I imagined Dracula would suddenly popped out in my room, eyes glaring red in the dark and his fangs glistening in the stillness of the night.

The horror haunted me for more than a week and I could not sleep without the lights on in my room. I was afraid to venture out of our house as dusk settled in. One howl from our neighboring dog would startle me and make me tremble in fear, imagining some creepy creature to be lurking in the dark.

It was all so real to me that I would sleep with bunches of garlic surrounding my bed. It took me quite sometime to get over my fear of that movie and the undead.

That was the time I refrained from looking at corpses in coffins during funeral wakes which my family and I used to attend. I imagined that the dead would suddenly arise straight out of the coffin and pursue me. I was afraid of night creatures like bats and owls or even growling dogs at night imagining them to be disguised vampires.

I used to watch every horror movies that were shown in our local cinemas, especially scary movies dealing with the undead and vampires. It took me quite a long time to outgrow both my fascination and fear of Dracula and the undead.

Going back to that frightening episode in my life, I could not help but smile at my youthful naive gullibility. Now I tell my children that all the horror movies that terrify them are virtual special effects done to scare the wits out of gullible little children who are terrified by tales of the macabre and the unknown.

I include here a very short excerpt of that film that haunted my childhood years for so long. Happy Halloween. Bwaaaaa, ha, ha,ha, ha, ha ,ha.

I'm sorry Noushy, Miss Kurdapya, Sameera and Raaji if your comments were erased. I recopied this post for World United Bloggers but there were always technical problems in cut and pasting the article after it was changed in size and color and putting back again the hmtl. In the process, the whole post got erased and I have to replace it with another post in my draft file but your comments were already erased with the original post. Sorry again. I hope you will not erase me in your blog rolls, he, he, he, *lol* Well, it's another clear case of senility, I guess. He, he, he, *lol* Enjoy your days wonderful friends.

Sorry again Noushy that you have to post a comment again. That was so clumsy of me to have inadvertently deleted the comments on my original post. Maybe I am still scared of Dracula that's why. He, he, he, *lol*
I really appreciate your thoughtfulness my friend for your extra effort to make your statements. You sure are a wonderful friend. The more I know you through your posts and comments the more I respect and admire you. You don't possess the vanity of some females who are surrounded by admirers. You can still maintain your low key personality and your warmth of friendship. And that's what makes you so special among your friends. As you say, you are one in a million. Thanks for your friendship, I will always treasure that. Smile always. Have a warm and pleasant day.

Oh come on Jim, we're just friends. Don't be jealous, he, he, he *lol* I always maintain platonic or spiritual love with my female friends. But that only goes as far as that. I can only be physically intimate with my wife who is at the United States right now. My spirit soars where my body is incarcerated in this debilitated and pain filled existence of mine. As I am writing this comment, my body is wracked in excruciating pain because of severe scoliosis of my lower back. I could scarcely stand or walk. And the pain is shooting down on my thigh as it grows numb in pain. Anyway, that's inconsequential. Let the Lord take care of that. Thanks Jim for your visit and for agreeing to disagree with me in so many issues.
We can still be friends although we may disagree on so many things. Have a nice and pleasant day.

Oh Sameera, sorry if I can not extend your awards to others as you explained. I just don't want to hurt the feelings of those I may omit in giving a special award. But I really, really appreciate the award you gave me and the mention of my previous comment to you. The mere fact that you appreciate that is reward enough for me. I could really sense that you have a noble spirit inside you. If I am to give you an award, let it be the "light of the earth and salt of the world"
award for lighting a single candle instead of cursing the whole darkness and for giving flavor to this world by being a salt of the earth. Continue with what you're doing and soar to the skies. There is no limit to what one can do if he put his heart and soul to it. Smile always. Have a wonderful and pleasant day.

I think I saw this when I was little! Unlike you, I used to LOVE watching scary movies (still do) and was a big fan of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. They made great Draculas...

Dr. Deb said...

I also was afraid of that Dracula movie too. In fact, if Peter Cushing is in a film and kinda can't pay attention. He still frightens me.

Hi Jlee,
I love your Halloween get up of a beautiful beer girl. You should have won first prize instead of 2nd. I am no longer affected now by the movies of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, especially the Dracula series. I have outgrown my childhood fears. Thanks for visiting my blog again and for your wonderful comments. Smile always. God bless and have a wonderful and pleasant day.

Hi Dr. Deb,
Nice to see you again here. Who would have thought that the scholarly and stoic Dr. Deb could still be subject to fear? Hmmm, and I thought you were wonder woman, he, he, he, *lol* Just joking Dr. Deb. I just want to see a smile on your face. Thanks for your visit and for your wonderful comments. Smile always. God bless and have a pleasant and peaceful day.

Hi Greenearth,
Your spirit is far too noble and creative for it to be affected by such a mundane thing as fear. Fear is caused by ignorance and lack of correct knowledge. We always fear the unknown. Fear can never negate nor overcome a soaring creative spirit such as yours as you concentrate on your creative outpourings. My hat's off to the resident artist, philosopher and nature activist of World United Bloggers. Thanks for your visit. Smile always. God bless and have a wonderful and creative day.

Hi Miss Kurdapya,
Of course you cannot throw me away. Remember we're friends so I stick to you like the proverbial glue, he, he, he *lol* You should have already anticipated that I am capable of such stupidity as inadvertently deleting the previous comments on my post. That's why I am being sought after by the Alzheimer's Disease association of America for pay per post, but I declined their offer because I forgot the name of their association. Duh, what's that again, I was about to tell you something, er, what's your name again? He, he, he, *lol* Ulianin na si kuya Mel mo. he, he, he. Thanks for your visit and for the comment take 2. Smile always. God bless and have a fun filled and wacky day.
